As the 4.5-Day Workweek Gains Traction, HCG’s JaDE Takes a Proactive Lead

As public debate around adopting a 4.5-day workweek intensifies following the 21st presidential election, the movement toward more flexible working arrangements is rapidly gaining momentum — regardless of whether the policy is officially adopted. A growing number of organizations are beginning to explore alternatives to the traditional 5-day work model.

Notably, Gyeonggi Province is launching a pilot program from 2025 to 2027, allowing selected companies to experiment with one of four flexible formats:
▲ a 4.5-day workweek  ▲ a 35-hour workweek  ▲ a biweekly 4-day schedule  ▲ or a hybrid model — all aimed at reducing total working hours.

 

These developments are prompting companies to rethink and redesign their HR policies to adapt to future workforce trends. In particular, demand is rising for HR systems that can seamlessly support the design and management of flexible work structures — including work schedule planning, time tracking, and labor hour calculations.

It also provides comprehensive scheduling features to accommodate new systems like the 4.5-day workweek — including custom settings for legal working hours and designated workdays.
