[HR Tech Leaders Day] Changing HR Demands met with talenx Adaptive Capabilities
There is a growing consensus that HR services must be designed with adaptability in mind to meet the evolving needs of users. In line with this, AI-powered HR services have been introduced.
Applying Design Thinking to HR — Meeting Evolving Needs
On the 8th, Hajin Lee, Program Director at Human Consulting Group (HCG), and Jinsu Kang, Head of Design, attended the “HR Tech Leaders Day” hosted by ZDNet Korea. They stated, “When it comes to HR issues people face, if AI is the most suitable technology to solve them, then we should leverage it to address those problems.”
Jinsu Kang, who delivered the first keynote of the day, highlighted “design” as a key concept for understanding HR.

“Design is not about how something looks, but how it works,” said Jinsu Kang. “The way something functions—who uses it and how—is the essence of design. It’s a methodology that answers what causes discomfort and how to resolve it.” He emphasized that this approach is defined as design thinking.
Kang criticized the conventional planning flow for HR services, which often begins with questions like: What technologies do we have? Do we have enough engineers to maintain them? Where can these technologies be applied? He noted that such thinking puts the process in the wrong order.
“The right sequence is to first ask: Why does the HR service exist? And who is it for?” Kang said. “It’s not about the technology itself—it’s about understanding the core of the problem we are solving.”
Following Kang’s keynote, Program Director Hajin Lee introduced the keyword ‘persona’, referring to its meaning of ‘changing identity,’ as a lens through which to understand HR services. She emphasized that HR systems must address the evolving needs of employees, company size, and organizational structure.
“As employees grow, their needs change, and as business strategies shift, HR needs evolve as well,” Lee explained. “In the past, HR systems were built by collecting predefined requirements and designing functions to match. But that approach can no longer keep up with today’s dynamic demands.
She added, “HR systems must be structurally flexible from the start, considering how people’s roles change with context and what information and functions they require as a result.”
talenx Enables Flexible Response…Powed by AI
As a solution to these challenges, the speakers introduced HCG’s HR SaaS platform, talenx is an all-in-one integrated talent platform that combines and expands key HR modules such as Time & Attendance, HRM, and workflow functions.
“The most important design principle behind talenx was building a structure that could respond flexibly,” said Kang. “The dashboard, which serves as the home screen, is customizable by the individual, and users can freely modify the visibility and order of each widget.”

Kang added, “Since an individual employee can take on multiple roles within the organization, we enabled the creation of multiple dashboards tailored to each user's needs. At the same time, we also retained a fixed dashboard structure that can be applied company-wide, addressing the need for centralized control that proved useful in legacy systems.”
The Appraisal module has also been made more flexible. Recognizing that performance assessment is one of the most dynamic areas in HR, the platform allows administrators to configure their own evaluation processes. It also supports various scoring models, including holistic grading, absolute evaluations, and relative evaluations.
In the area of payroll, the platform supports a wide range of variables such as position-based allowances, role-based compensation, and time-based premiums including overtime and night shifts. A built-in calculator feature was designed to accommodate all these components, enhancing the flexibility and accuracy of payroll calculations.
AI technology has also been applied to the platform, based on the idea that AI can be used to identify and solve problems faced by HR users......(omitted hereafter)
